The meta. Gaming communities use this word a lot, and it's generally used to refer to a specific style(s) of play - especially in competitive games - that is(are) considered effective and "better" than the rest. Some communities swear by this rule of "meta", so much to the point that they begin to discriminate against those that play outside of the meta. But why? It' just a video game in the end, isn't it? Today we'll try to explain the "meta mentality" through a psychological viewpoint.
